Frequently Asked Questions

What is my username?
The standard username format is Lastname_firstinitial.  Example: Jane Smith's username would be smith_j.

There are some exceptions to this rule.  If you have trouble logging in, you will need to contact the Support Center.

I forgot my password; what do I do?
Students - reset your password online .  Please be prepared to provide your 6-digit student number from the front of your Mitchell College ID card, as well as the last four digits of your Social Security Number.  You may also contact the LITS Support Center for assistance.

Faculty & Staff - Please contact the LITS Support Center to have your password reset.  Please be prepared to provide the last four digits of your Social Security Number and your birth month and day.  For security reasons, no one should know your password except for you.

What if I've never logged in before?
Please contact the Support Center to find out what your username and temporary password are.  The first time you login, you must use a campus computer (Library or computer labs). 

For assistance logging in and using the Mitchell email system, please visit the Library and speak with LITS staff.  You may also visit the Drop-In hours in Bingham Hall 104 (hours posted on the door) or email askLITS@mitchell.edu to schedule an appointment.

What are the rules of creating a password?
Mitchell user account passwords must be at least 8 characters long and cannot repeat any of the last 18 passwords you have used.  It is recommended that you use a combination of numbers and letters.  Passwords are case-sensitive; if you use upper case when you set your password, you will need to use upper case to login as well.
